Dissolving Asacol Tablets in the Caecum, Inactive Ulcerative Colitis

Asacol is a drug containing 5-ASA (aminosalicylic acid). The tablet is coated with a layer which dissolve in the distal small bowel and in the caecal region where pH rise above 7. Intact or partly dissolved Asacol-tablets are often seen in the caecum during a colonoscopy.
